World Cup Shakib Al Hasan: It seems that Bangladesh (BCB) is going to get a big blow as their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is reportedly leaving the ODI team after taking over the responsibility as the captain of the team just a month ago, wants to leave the captaincy. There are reports of new differences emerging between Bangladesh’s two greatest cricketers Tamim Iqbal and Shakib Al Hasan ahead of the World Cup.

Al Hasan will also lead the ‘Bangla Tigers’ in the 50-over World Cup

Al Hasan was reinstated as the captain of the ODI team by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. He is also set to lead the ‘Bangla Tigers’ in the 50-over World Cup.

He does not want half-fit players on his team

A BCB source told The Daily Star that Shakib has informed the country’s cricket governing body that he does not intend to lead the team at the prestigious event. The 36-year-old along with Bangladesh head coach Chandika Hathurusingha met BCB president Nazmul Hasan at his residence at midnight and explained his situation. According to BCB sources, Shakib does not want half-fit players in his team and this is one of the reasons for him not captaining Bangladesh.

Tamim was included in the 15-member team despite being injured

Tamim Iqbal is struggling with a back injury but has been included in Bangladesh’s 15-man squad for the World Cup. This possible cold war continues between the two best cricketers in Bangladesh. This is not the first time that tension has come to the fore between them.

After missing the Asia Cup due to a back injury, Tamim returned to international cricket during the ongoing series against New Zealand. He scored 44 off 58 balls in the second ODI in Mirpur on 23 September, but after the game, he said “I still have a lot of pain in my back.”

If BCB accepts Tamim’s demand then he will not be a part of the ICC event.

According to a report by Somoy TV, Tamim informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that he will not be able to play more than five matches during the World Cup due to injury. Shakib responded by saying that if BCB accepts Tamim’s demand then he will not be a part of the ICC event. He wants someone else to be chosen instead.
