Williamson is ready for October 5

Williamson hopes to be ready for New Zealand’s opening match against defending champions England on October 5, a repeat of the 2019 final which his team lost by a narrow margin.

Kane Williamson Update:

“It would be great,” he said. Naturally, you’ll want to get back to playing sooner rather than later when you’re fit and ready. You hope it’s over around World Cup time, but I’m still very focused on day-to-day rehabilitation and don’t want these goals to overwhelm it to the point where you take a step back.”

Williamson’s preparation at the nets

Williamson is already batting in the nets. “As for running, it’s not 100 percent, but making good progress,” he said.

Gary Stead-Williamson’s return uncertain

New Zealand coach Gary Stead said there is no definite date for when Williamson will play again. But his return will provide a big boost. He was the player of the 2019 tournament with centuries against South Africa and West Indies, leading New Zealand to the pinnacle of lifting the trophy.
