World Cup 2023: Kyle Jamieson gets place in New Zealand team in place of injured Matt Henry

World Cup 2023: During the World Cup match between South Africa and New Zealand in Pune, fast bowler Matt Henry suffered an injury in his right hamstring. After which he was forced to leave the field in the middle of his sixth over. James Neesham completed the 27th over of South Africa’s innings and took 1 wicket for 69 runs in 5.3 overs. After Henry’s injury, New Zealand has included Kyle Jamieson in the World Cup squad.

Kyle Jamieson joins the team in place of Matt Henry

Henry remains under the observation of the medical team, but the team later confirmed that he would not return to bowling. New Zealand Cricket said he would be sent for scans on Thursday. Henry came to bat at number 11 when New Zealand was at 133 for 9 chasing 358 and was desperate to reduce the margin of defeat. He faced nine balls but could not run.

Jamieson will reach Bengaluru on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s match against Pakistan.

Due to Henry’s injury, New Zealand has included Kyle Jamieson in the team as cover. Jamieson will reach Bengaluru on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s match against Pakistan. Head coach Gary Stead said, “Due to the severity of Matt’s injury and the short turnaround time in Pakistan, we could not afford to have the bowlers available for Saturday.”
