Aiden Markram, who came to the crease after the dismissal of Quinton de Kock, appeared in excellent form from the beginning. Markram played havoc with the Sri Lankan bowling attack. The South African batsman completed his half-century in just 34 balls. However, after scoring fifty, Markram assumed his true monstrous form and scored fifty runs in the next 15 balls. Markram faced just 49 balls to complete his century.

Aiden Markram has now made the record of scoring the fastest century in the 50 over World Cup. Aiden Markram scored a century in just 49 balls and broke Kevin O’Brien’s 12-year-old record. Markram has also scored the third fastest century in ODI for South Africa. Markram played a stormy inning of 106 runs in 54 balls. During this, he hit 13 fours and two sixes.

Third fastest century from South Africa :-
Aiden Markram has also made the record of scoring the third fastest century for South Africa in ODI cricket. The record for scoring the fastest century for the team is in the name of AB de Villiers, who scored a century in 31 balls against West Indies in 2015. Whereas, Mark Boucher is at second place in this list.
