Shaheen became captain in November, but things weren’t smooth sailing. They lost 4-1 to New Zealand in a brutal T20 series. Now, with the new selection committee announced, PCB chairman Najam Sethi is staying tight-lipped about Shaheen staying captain.

Who Picks the New Captain?
Sethi spilled the tea that the new selection committee would choose the captain. Pakistan has some T20 series coming up before the World Cup. So, the big question is: will Shaheen lead the team, or will someone else step up?

Sethi himself isn’t sure who’ll be the captain! “We’ll decide after the fitness camp,” he said. “We’re looking for a long-term solution, whether it’s Shaheen or someone new. We want to stick with them, not just keep changing captains after every loss.”
Babar’s Captaincy Comeback?
Remember how Babar Azam captained Pakistan in all formats until the 2023 World Cup? He stepped down after their poor performance. They made Shan Masood the Test captain and Shaheen the T20 captain, but clearly, Shaheen’s captaincy hasn’t impressed the board.
