Australia Announces Squad Of 16 Players For T20 Series Against West Indies. Australia made the big guns for their upcoming two-match T20I series against West Indies at home.

The recall of a quartet has accelerated their quest to retain their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup crown.

The series will be a crucial period for Australia ahead of the start of the T20 World Cup next month and the selectors have opted to recall four players who missed the recent three-match series in India.
Opener David Warner, all-rounders Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis, and veteran pacer Mitchell Starc have all returned to the fold.

While young star Cameron Greene will get another chance to prove his T20I credentials as he has also been included in the 16-player squad.
Green is currently not included in Australia’s 15-player squad for the T20 World Cup but impressed with two half-centuries while playing as an opener against India in the absence of the rested Warner.

Right-arm pacer Kane Richardson and spinner Ashton Agar have been rested for two matches at the Gold Coast (October 5) and The Gabba (October 7), with veteran batsman Aaron Finch taking over the captaincy once again.

Former Australia batsman and chairman of the national selection panel George Bailey said the series against West Indies will be an important match practice ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Bailey said, ‘We are taking a cautious approach to the World Cup and moving forward.
“The return of the four key players gives us the ability to take the conservative path with any minor issues and resolve them well in time for the World Cup.
“So we expect Kane and Ashton to return for the next series against England.”
