New Delhi. The controversy regarding the Asia Cup 2023 is not taking the name of stopping at the moment. The Indian team had made it clear long back that it would not go to Pakistan and play the tournament. In October last year, BCCI secretary Jai Shah made it clear that the Indian team cannot play in Pakistan due to political ties. After this, the PCB had talked about conducting the Asia Cup under the hybrid model. Now news has come about that BCCI has planned a new tournament because of Pakistan’s insistence.

In October last year, BCCI Secretary Jai Shah made it clear. While giving a statement that the Indian cricket team will not go to Pakistan to play any tournament. The Asia Cup will be held at some other place outside Pakistan. The then chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Rameez Raja, had created a ruckus about this and had threatened to boycott the ICC ODI World Cup to be held in India in a hurry. In his place, the new chairman, Najam Sethi, shrugged off these statements and said that he meant the Asia Cup and not any ICC tournament.

Asia Cup Will be Canceled

In the midst of the ongoing controversy regarding the Asia Cup. The news of a Pakistani website Cricket Pakistan has created a ruckus. In a report on the website, it has been claimed that Pakistan is adamant on holding Asia and because of this the tournament can be cancelled.

It has also been claimed in the report that after the cancellation of the Asia Cup. The Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to hold its own tournament on the same dates instead. The board is considering holding a 5-nation tournament in the window of the Asia Cup. Behind this is the hybrid model of the Asia Cup and PCB’s insistence on conducting the tournament in Pakistan itself.

What is the Hybrid Plan of PCB

PCB wants the Asia Cup to be organized in Pakistan only. The matches played by the Indian team in Pakistan will be held at some other place outside. In such a situation, all the countries with which India has to play matches will be conducted at a neutral venue instead of in Pakistan.
