Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur may be ruled out of the first two matches of the upcoming Asian Games 2023 to be held in China. The International Cricket Council (ICC) may take action against him for desecration of equipment and public criticism of match officials in the tied third ODI against Bangladesh.
Harmanpreet publicly insulted the Umpires :-
Harmanpreet was given out LBW but he said that the ball touched the bottom edge of his bat. In a fit of rage, he pulled down the stumps before returning to the pavilion. After the match, he described the umpiring as very poor and taunted that the umpires should stand with the teams at the award ceremony.

If Harmanpreet gets 4 Demerit Points, She will be out of first two matches of Asian Games 2023:-
According to sources, ICC is considering giving him three or four Demerit Points. If four demerit points are accumulated in 24 months, then the player is banned from one Test or two limited overs matches.

If 3 Demerit Points are awarded then only financial penalty will be imposed. If 4 Demerit Points are awarded then Harmanpreet will not be able to play first two matches of Asian Games. Harmanpreet has been accused by ICC panel match referee Akhtar Ahmed, who is also from Bangladesh. If she is banned for two matches, she will not play in the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the Asian Games.
