Indian Cricketer Death: Former Captain Of India And Veteran Cricketer Who Played 11 Tests Passes Away. Tuesday 13th February was a very sad day in the history of Indian cricket.
Dattajirao Gaekwad Passes Away At The Age Of 95:-
The veteran cricketer, who played 11 test matches for the country, said goodbye to the world. Dattajirao Gaikwad, who captained Team India on the England tour in 1959, died at the age of 95.

He was also India’s oldest Test cricketer. Under his captaincy, the Baroda team also won the Ranji Trophy title in 1957-58. BCCI also expressed grief over his demise. The board expressed condolences with his photo on the X.
The board wrote in its post that BCCI pays tribute to the demise of Dattajirao Gaikwad. On behalf of the Board, deep condolences to his family, his friends, and all his close ones.
Let us tell you that he was also the father of another cricketer who played for India, Anshuman Gaikwad. He made his debut in 1952 and came from the Royal Family of Baroda. Dattaji played his last test match in 1961. Many people have expressed grief over his demise.
How was Dattajirao’s Career?
Dattajirao’s international career was such that he scored 350 runs in 11 test matches. During this period a half-century came from his bat.
52 was his best score. He captained the Indian team on the 1959 tour against England. Whereas his first-class career was exactly the opposite.
Dattajirao scored 5788 runs in 110 matches. He has 17 centuries and 23 half-centuries in his name in first class. His best score was 249 runs unbeaten. While bowling in first class, he took 25 wickets in his name.
Son Surpasses Father:-
Dattajirao’s international career was not very big and special but his son Anshuman Gaekwad earned a good name in international cricket.
He succeeded his father and played 40 Tests and 15 ODIs for India.
Anshuman Gaikwad has 1985 runs in his name in Tests which include 2 centuries and 10 half-centuries. His best score in the test was 201 runs and he also took 2 wickets.

In the ODI, Anshuman scored 269 runs and 78 was his best score. Anshuman Gaikwad scored 12136 runs while playing 206 matches in first-class cricket.
