Former Indian cricketer K Srikkanth says that if he was the chairman of the selection committee, he would have directly made Hardik Pandya the captain of India and would have started preparations for the 2024 T20 World Cup from the New Zealand tour itself. India’s New Zealand tour will begin from November 18, in which three ODIs and three T20 matches will be played.

In a conversation with a sports channel, Srikkanth, the former chairman of the selection committee, while talking about the T20 World Cup 2024, said, “Look if I was the chairman of the selection committee, I would say that Hardik Pandya should be the captain of the 2024 World Cup directly. From today onwards Start building a team right away. New Zealand series is going to start in a week. You start preparing for the world cup from today. Hardik Pandya was named India’s captain and he led India to a 2-0 win

Hardik Pandya was made India’s vice-captain for the first time during the home series against South Africa in June this year. The last match of the series was washed out due to rain and the series was tied at 2-2. After this, Hardik Pandya was made the captain of India in the series against Ireland and he won India 2-0. In the T20I series against the West Indies, Pandya was the vice-captain and India won 4–1.

Hardik Pandya will now lead the Indian team in the T20 series against New Zealand, with Rishabh Pant as the vice-captain. The tour of New Zealand will start from 18 November. There will be three T20s and three ODIs in it.

Two captains are necessary in the team

Former Indian fast bowling all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that there should be two good captains in the team. In this situation, if one captain is injured, the other can take the team forward.

Former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop said that there is a lot of talent available in India. Mohsin played for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022. In nine matches, he took 14 wickets at an average of 14.07 and an economy rate of 5.97.
