Ian Healy: Cricket will look foolish if CA sacks Langer

Melbourne, Feb 3 (PTI) Cricket Australia (CA) will extend the contract of head coach Justin Langer. As it would make the game look “foolish” if they sack him after a successful stint, feels former wicketkeeper Ian Healy, Feb 3 (PTI).

Langer’s contract is to expire in June. Under his leadership, Australia won the T20 World Cup title for the first time last year and recently dominated the Ashes with a 4-0 win. He is in talks with the CA regarding his role in the future.

You can change a coach far easier than a senior player, Ian Healy told ‘Sen Radio’

Ian Healy told Sen Radio, “The coach is not as important as a big player…you can change a coach far easier than a senior player.”

“Although if they sack Justin Langer then the game will look like a fool. But I don’t think they will sack him,” he said.

The 57-year-old former wicketkeeper. Who played 119 Tests for Australia between 1988 and 1999, believes the discussions between the two sides may have been about the number of years in Langer’s new contract.
