ICC Women’s World Cup 2022: Captain Mithali praised the bowlers after the match, blamed the defeat on the batsmen

New Delhi, Online Desk. The Indian women’s team had to face defeat in the second match of the World Cup. In this match New Zealand beat India by 62 runs. India had a target of 261 runs, but the entire team was all out after scoring 198 runs. After the match, captain Mithali Raj said that the score could have been achieved. He said that the top order should have maintained the run rate. We needed one batsman to bat till the end. He said we could have done better.

Praising his bowlers, he said that at one point of time New Zealand were looking to make more totals but the bowlers did a wonderful job. The bowlers bowled well in the last match as well. Batting has to be improved. India’s top order completely flopped in this match. Except for vice-captain Harmanpreet and captain Mithali, none of the batsmen scored.

This match was historic for India’s experienced bowler Jhulan Goswami. He equaled Lynn Fulstone to become the highest wicket-taker in the World Cup. He completed his 39 wickets in the World Cup by dismissing Emily Carr in the last over. This is the 5th World Cup for him. He will have a chance to overtake Fulstone in the match against West Indies on March 12. India’s next match will be played against West Indies at Sedan Park Hamilton on March 12.
