New Delhi. The cricket teams of India and Australia (IND vs AUS) are busy preparing for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The first Test match of the 4-match series between the two teams will be played in Nagpur from 9 February. Of course, despite Australia’s team being number in the ICC Test rankings, it is well aware that it will not be easy for the Kangaroos to beat Team India at home. This is because the Indian team has been invincible at home for some time now. In this series, India has to go without regular wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. In his place, Ishaan Kishan and KS Bharat got a place in the Test squad as wicketkeepers.

Pant has been performing brilliantly in Test cricket for some time now. Especially his batting in the second innings is worth watching. He has the ability to tear apart any bowling attack. In such a situation, it will not be easy for any player to compensate them. Along with Pant, Shreyas Iyer has also been ruled out of the first Test match. Iyer has stiffness in his lower back. Of course, players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are present in the team, yet off-spinner RR Ashwin says that in the absence of Pant, Shreyas Iyer is the backbone of Indian batting.

R Ashwin Praised Shreyas fiercely
R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, ‘Shreyas Iyer has been doing well in Test cricket with Rishabh Pant in the last few years. This is a low compliment to him. He is the backbone of this batting order. He is going to prove to be an important player for India in the absence of Rishabh Pant.
Ashwin gave an update on Shreyas’ injury
Shreyas was out of the limited overs series against New Zealand due to injury. He is currently undergoing treatment at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. There is no official statement from the BCCI on his availability in the series against Australia. Regarding Shreyas’s injury, Iyer said that it seems he is currently suffering from a back problem and has taken an injection.
