Indian team defeated Zimbabwe by 5 wickets in the second ODI played at Harare Sports Club. With this, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the batsmen of Zimbabwe’s team disappointed in the second ODI as well. The team was bundled out for 161 runs in 38.1 overs. In response, India won the match by scoring 167 runs in 25.4 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Chasing the target of 162 runs, the first blow to the Indian team came in the form of captain KL Rahul.
Captain KL Rahul opened the innings with Shikhar Dhawan for batting practice ahead of the Asia Cup starting next week but was dismissed lbw in the second over by Victor Nyuchi for a five-ball one, after which Dhawan and For the second wicket between Gill, there was a flamboyant partnership of 42 runs in 29 balls. However, Dhawan was dismissed after scoring 33 runs in 21 balls. There was a 36-run partnership between Ishan Kishan and Gill for the third wicket, but Kishan got bowled after scoring just 6 runs. Gill too was dismissed after some time after scoring 33 runs in 34 balls.

Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson shared 56 runs in 58 balls for the fifth wicket. Hooda was dismissed for 25 runs in 36 balls. After this, Sanju Samson gave India victory by hitting a six in the 26th over. Samson scored 43 runs in 39 balls. During this he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes.
Earlier, India bowled out Zimbabwe for 161 in the second ODI on Saturday on the back of a fine performance by fast bowler Shardul Thakur, who returned to the team. Thakur, who made it to the team in the absence of Deepak Chahar, gave Zimbabwe double blows in the 12th over. He took three wickets for 38 runs in seven overs.

For Zimbabwe, Sean Williams scored 42 runs in 42 balls with the help of one six and three fours. At the time of his arrival at the crease, the host’s score was 31 for four in the 13th over. Williams was dismissed by off-spinner Deepak Hooda, who was caught by Shikhar Dhawan at deep square leg.
Ryan Burle scored 39 runs in 47 balls with the help of three fours and a six but there were no batsmen left to support him at the other end. Zimbabwe lost the last three wickets in eight balls with Victor Nyuchi and Tanaka Chiwanga being run out.

Zimbabwe’s score would have been lower had it not been for the disappointing performance by the Indian fielders. Wicketkeeper Sanju Samson took a tough catch and missed a stumping opportunity off Axar Patel. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav left an easy catch on his own ball.
Mohammad Siraj took one wicket for 16 runs in eight overs while bowling economical while famous Krishna took one wicket for 28 runs in 6.1 overs. Indian captain KL Rahul won the toss and elected to bowl, which would prevent the Indian batsmen from getting the necessary practice once again ahead of the Asia Cup.
