Rohit Sharma will captain the Indian team in T20 World Cup 2024, BCCI Secretary confirmed.
T20 World Cup 2024: BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has made a big announcement on 15th February, due to which the suspense regarding Indian captaincy in global events in Caribbean and America is now over. Actually, Jay Shah has confirmed that none other than Rohit Sharma will captain India in the upcoming T20 World Cup in June and Hardik Pandya will be the vice-captain.
T20 World Cup 2024: BCCI Secretary Jai Shah said :-
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, “At the moment, Rohit is the captain of all formats. It is a collective decision, and the selectors are in complete agreement on the matter. Hardik Pandya as vice-captain for the T20 World Cup “I will retain my post.”
He further said, “If you remember the Afghanistan T20I match, we were in a difficult position at 27 for four, but Rohit’s remarkable century changed the course of the game. We cannot question his abilities. However, we won the World Cup. Won ten matches in a row.”

Jay Shah has also made a big statement regarding the T20 World Cup where Indian captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid and some members of the Indian team were also present. He said, “I have not made any comment about the 2023 World Cup in which we lost the final in Ahmedabad. However, I can assure you that India will win the T20 World Cup in Barbados on June 29 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma. “

Also, let us tell you that Jay Shah also emphasized that he will give instructions to the players to participate in domestic cricket. Many top players of the country are reportedly avoiding playing Ranji Trophy matches to stay fit for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL).
Jay Shah said, “This is an important issue. I will give all the players tomorrow no doubt that if your captain and coach instructs you to play, you have to follow it and participate in red-ball cricket.
What did Jai Shah say about Ishan Kishan ?
However, the BCCI secretary refused to name any player, including Ishan Kishan, who is focusing on IPL preparations. When asked about Ishan Kishan, he said, “He is a young player… There is no need to mention his name. This instruction applies to all players, including those under contract. Further Ultimately, all players will have no option but to participate in domestic cricket.”
