IPL CSK 2023: Ben Stokes and Rituraj Gaikwad also included in the captaincy race. This auction was great for Chennai Super Kings.
Leading the race to become the next captain of Chennai:-
CSK was successful in buying England all-rounder Ben Stokes. Ben Stokes, who came for 16 crores 25 lakhs, is at the forefront of the race to become the next captain of Chennai.

But Ruturaj Gaikwad is also involved in the race to become the next captain after MS Dhoni. CSK official gave an update regarding this.
Let us tell you that since 2008 till now there have been only 3 captains for Chennai Super Kings. Apart from MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja have become the captains of this team. For the first time last year, Ravindra Jadeja was given the command of this team.
But his performance with the team was also poor. Dhoni had to take back the captaincy in the final matches. This time only Dhoni can start as captain.

Ben Stokes IPL 2023: Chennai has bought the most expensive Ben Stokes in the history so far. Several teams including Mumbai Indians were in the fray to pick up Ben Stokes.
But Chennai won the successful bid. The team has bought Ben Stokes for Rs 16 crore 25 lakh. Earlier Ben Stokes used to play for Rajasthan Royals.
25-year-old Rituraj Gaikwad can become the long-term captain for Chennai Super Kings. He leads the Maharashtra team at the domestic level, so he is a good option.
He has been playing under Dhoni’s captaincy for the last many years, Dhoni would know his talent and leadership very well. Ben Stokes has more experience, he played a key role in helping England win the ODI and T20 World Cups.
But the two problems for CSK are that he is a foreign player and secondly he is an all-rounder. Only 4 foreigners are fed in a team, so if the captain is a foreigner then there are problems in the combination of playing 11.
