Robin Minz, son of 48-year-old retired army personnel Francis Xavier Minz, has been signed by Gujarat Titans for Rs 3.60 crore in the IPL auction 2024. ‘Ranchi Gayles’ managed to rope in Robin Minz from Gujarat Titans Mumbai Indians after an intense bidding war.

After the auction, Robin’s father Francis told The Indian Express, “A CISF jawan came up to me and hugged me and said, ‘Hey Francis sir, you have become a millionaire.'”

The roots of the Robin Minz family are in Telgaon, a village in the tribal area of Gumla district. Robin’s father Francis was also interested in sports and it was because of his love for athletics that he got a job in the army. After joining the armed forces, the family moved to Ranchi. It was here that Robin chose cricket and aspired to be like MS Dhoni.

I have no doubt in saying this. The demand for wicketkeeping gloves is high in Ranchi and young cricketers prefer to have long hair.”
